The six stages of the Maliyan Experience

There are six essential stages that you or your employees need to go through to become more Culturally competent. Each stage has been developed in order to build on the skills and knowledge gained in the previous stages. This way Cultural competence is developed over time through implementation processes.

The Maliyan Journey - Begin the Journey for FREE

Where to start? We believe that building Cultural competence begins with a process of personal reflection on Cultural identity, and recognising the impact it has on personal and organisational practices.  The most important element in Cultural competence is self-knowledge and having the capacity for Cultural self-assessment.  In this stage participants will identify their organisation's Cultural assumptions in The Maliyan Experience Quiz. The Maliyan Way to awareness

This stage is about increasing Cultural awareness to deepen self-knowledge and lay the foundations for competence. During this workshop participants will examine both the positive and negative aspects of Cultural difference. We have both online training and face-to-face workshops for individuals or groups. The Maliyan Way to Competency

In this stage you will work towards building a framework for a Culturally safe and inclusive workplace, where the dynamics of Cultural differences are proactively managed, increasing consciousness of the dynamics inherent when Cultures interact.  The vital element in this stage of your journey is experience. The best training is first hand experience with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples. Find out more


The Maliyan Way to growth

In this stage, participants will maximise their Maliyan Experience potential through localised experiences with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, whilst examining policy and legislation at all levels and in practice. A vital element in this stage is examining policy and legislation. You will enjoy an On Country experience, with classroom learning, to take your skills to the next stage and implement positive change in the workplace. Find out more


Implementation The Maliyan Way

What works for your organisation? In Stage 5 of your journey we help you embed Cultural knowledge throughout your organisation. Policy, practices, service delivery and behaviours are adapted to fit the Cultural diversity of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community engaged. Your organisation will be given the tools to develop and implement these strategies. Find out more

Consolidating the Maliyan Way

In this stage a dedicated business consultant will support your organisation whilst you implement the knowledge and skills gained from the five previous stages. We are here to guide you. Find out more
